Alstom and DF are building a new gas-fired power station in Carrington, Greater Manchester for Carrington Power.

The 880MW power plant will enter commercial operation early in 2016 following the three-year construction period and will generate enough electricity to supply the needs of around a million homes.

The station is being built using the latest natural gas combined cycle technology (CCGT) to ensure maximum energy efficiency and minimal impact to the environment. It will be one of the most efficient power stations in the UK once finished.

Members of the 3RM Associates team are currently working onsite managing all aspects of Temporary Works construction until the scheme will complete in 2016. 3RM have been involved in preliminary stages of the build, through the Civil engineering side of construction and are now heavily involved in controlling Temporary Works at mechanical / steel erection stages.

As well as providing Temporary Work Coordination, 3RM have given design advice on many unusual concepts that have been utilised on the build. 3RM have also worked “hand in hand” with ALSTOM Powers International Key stakeholders updating and creating procedures to control Temporary Works to a much higher standard than on any other ALSTOM Gas build.
