GARDANNE PROJECT , FRANCE

DETAILS:-

The main project at E.ON’s coal-fired Provence power plant in Gardanne – Meyreuil, France will create France’s largest biomass-fired power plant to date as part of the E.ON Group’s “cleaner & better energy” strategy. Generating electricity from the combustion of wood, it will provide 150 MW of power with base production of more than 7,500 hours per year until 2034, corresponding to the annual electrical consumption (except for heating) of 440,000 households. The conversion will reduce the CO2 balance by 600,000 tons per year while helping structure and develop the region’s wood-energy industry.

INVOLVEMENT:-

Members of the 3RM Associates team were asked to get involved as the project was near completion. A scaffold access platform with in the boiler structure required modification and to be supported from steelwork supported off of the side of the boiler structure to allow some repairs to the floor of the boiler. 3RM visited the site and assessed what was required then produced a design and some draft drawings that were approved, from there 3RM worked with the fabricators of the proposed steelwork and the site team to see the temporary works solution through to installation and use on site from initial conception and design.
